We’re celebrating our annual Sangha Party and welcoming our new Zen Master, Il Yeo (Arne Schaefer), at his home in Britz. We cordially invite you to join us on July 11 starting at 3:00 p.m.
Working Together to Make the Sangha Party a Success – We Need Your Support
We would be delighted if
– every guest contributes to vegetarian and non-alcoholicpotluck buffet (in addition to cakes, etc., please also bring something savory for dinner)
– Please let us know if you’re coming so we can plan better. Otherwise, you’re always welcome to drop by on the spur of the moment. (berlin@kwanumzen.de)
– You could help with the preparations. We need 6 people on July 11 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Arne’s garden. We’d appreciate it if you could let us know at berlin@kwanumzen.de.
– You could help clean up at the end of the party (probably around 10–12 p.m.). We’d appreciate your response on this as well.
– You’d like to contribute something to the program! What do you enjoy doing? Music? (Arne loves live music!) Mime? Acting? Stand-up comedy? (Arne loves it all 😀 ) Leading a game? Reciting a poem? Do you have other ideas? You’re welcome to share them! We’re really looking forward to your great ideas! Or if you don’t have an idea yet but would still like to join in—we also have a few ideas and are looking for people who’d like to bring them to life. We welcome any feedback!
– If you’d like to handle the music —anything goes, from soft background music to dance tunes! Does anyone have a good Bluetooth speaker? Or any other speakers?
– you’d like to donate something toward Arne’s gift! We’d like to give him a second long robe and a second small brown kasa on behalf of the sangha, so that he doesn’t always have to take his robe from the Berlin Zen Center home with him during his upcoming Zen trips to other centers. The long robe is quite expensive and costs approx. €465 including shipping from Korea and customs duties, plus €35 for a brown kasa = a total of approx. €500. We would greatly appreciate your donation for this via PayPal to kuzsde@gmail.com or by bank transfer (please request account details via email; Berlin members can simply transfer the amount to our Berlin account, the same one you use for your membership dues).
In both cases, the best subject line is “Gift for Arne”.
If you are traveling from outside Berlin, you may be able to stay overnight at the Zen Center Berlin (donation) or possibly in Arne’s garden (please bring a tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad). Please also contact us in advance to inquire and make arrangements—berlin@kwanumzen.de).

Access is via Hannemannstraße. Turn into a path to the right of a playground, which is an extension of Rungiusstraße.
Go through the first gate and walk all the way to the end of the path. Arne and Irmi’s garden is on the right. This is the exact point on the map.
